Hi Steemit!
Cordell Barker, Canadian based animator, is a phenomenal storyteller. His work is dark, funny and relatable. His characters, so full of life you can barely believe they don’t have their own thoughts, passions and intellect (or lack of).
Cordell Barker produced many pieces of work under the National Film Board of Canada.
I shall start off with one of Cordell Barker’s recent pieces and work my way back
This piece, If I Was God has so much going on within. A mixture of stop motion, 2D drawn and After Effects marry together seamlessly giving an insight into a main character’s mind. After the incident happens we are transported into this young boy’s boundless imagination made all the more fantastic by the fact that this piece is autobiographical from Barkers own childhood memories.
I was lucky enough to see this on the big screen at Montreal Stop Motion Festival a couple of years ago.
This week I’ve been showing my first years as an example of multimedia animation.
Cordell Barker also enjoyed success earlier in his career, receiving Best Animated Film for his hit “Runaway” in 2009 and two Oscar nominations, one for “The Cat Came Back” in 1988 and the second for “Strange Invaders” in 2002.
