J. J. Abrams, director of Star Trek Into Darkness, the second film in Star Trek rebooted series, obviously tried to repeat the success of The Wrath of Khan, second part of the original series and the best film of entire franchise. Both films share the same main villain – Khan Noonien Singh, this time played by Benedict Cumberbatch and introduced as renegade Starfleet officer John Harrison. The plot deals with the fallout of Khan/Harrison's terrorist activities and the crew of USS Enterprise on a mission to bring him to justice. J. J. Abrams pays homage to original Wrath of Khan, which even includes some of the more melodramatic elements of finale. But the general style and atmosphere looks different, while Abrams doesn't shy away from pointing towards differences between his and previous Star Trek universe. Although successful and entertaining, Into Darkness would probably be remembered for the wrong reasons, which include fan service scene including Alice Eve in the role of Dr. Marcus.
