Suicide Squad represented the lowest point in the history of DC Extended Universe, at it became apparent even before 2016 premiere. Following the trailer that made fans ecstatic news about disastrous test screenings and expensive reshoots drastically lowered expectations, and even that didn’t prevent major disappointment and impression of unfinished film and incoherent mess. Director David Ayer apparently wanted to make serious film about group of imprisoned supervillains hired by US government to fight supernatural and alien enemies in exchange for freedom; what was delivered on the screen was combination of incomprehensible and ineffective exposition, too dark cinematography and annoying fan service in form of cameo appearance of Joker, ineffectively played by Jared Leto. There are couple of bright spots, mostly thanks to Margot Robbie in the role of iconic Harley Quinn, but they aren’t enough to rescue this film.
