Just like in original Star Wars film trilogy, the second part of The Lord of the Rings is often viewed as the best. In it Peter Jackson has invested the most of his creative talent and the plot features more significant deviations from J.R.R. Tolkien's text than in The Fellowship of the Ring. This, actually, improves the film and allows screenwriters to show great skill in following three different sets of protagonists during their quest to save Middle Earth from Sauron. There are also strong female characters in film, including Eowyne played by Miranda Otto in the role of her career. The most impressive element of Two Towers is the Battle of Helms Deep, relatively small affair in Tolkien's novel, but turned into epic Stalingrad-like clash in the film which demonstrated Jackson's skill in handling CGI and making some of the most exciting combat scenes in the history of cinema. Such impressive second part of film series was hard to match with the third.
