Just watched episode One (pilot, directed by Scorsese himself) and two "Yesterday Once More" (directed by Allen Coulter). Didnt heard about this show, but borrowed it from Cracow "Arteteka" - sort of library, and damn its good ) .
Pilot episode is longer (like standard movie) something like 1 hour 40 minutes.
Got not much passion for watching tv shows/ movies lately, also after few burns im cautious about watching shows from HBO ( Lovecraf Country was so big disappointment after first two episodes ).
Witty dialogues and world-fights are strong side of show, also parts with music sequentions, for me especialy those singed by black musicians (blues and pop ) in reminiscencies .
("Aside from the soundtrack music, the majority of the music featured on Vinyl consists of a wide variety of genres, including rock, blues, pop, country, jazz, soul, funk, R&B, reggae, punk, disco, and hip-hop.")
Its hard to give final note or feeling to show after watching 20 percent of it, but I feel its good. Was kinda afraid that thematics wont give much of action into it, but authors done good job here, even without any shootouts .
Its put strong accent on scenes of drugs using , but c'mon its set in seventiees in showbuiseness.
Main character Richie Finestra played by Bobby Cannavale is great creation, Vinyl got some witty houmour and much of Rock and Roll vibe inside - sometimes if feels like musical or music movie but bettter .
Hope my english isnt terrific in this post (my first try tu publicate in it on PEAKd,and I feel like its really rusty, so any feedback in comments is welcome )
also lets this sequention of episode one would be best recomendations - make me laught long and loud ....
also if you thinking about quitting smoking and doesnt have strong will dont watch it ;) ! (smoking everywhere in restaraunts and offices it seems to also show 70 ties vibe ) .
Also Andy Warhol is portreid as side character in episode two , fun fact is that he made experimental film called "Vinyl" in 1965
