Home Alone (1990)

The extended McCallister family are planning to spend Christmas in Paris, but a power cut overnight results in everyone over sleeping. As they frantically attempt to get ready they forget about 8-year-old Kevin who’d been sleeping in the attic room alone. A bungled head count and lacks pre-911 flight checks mean the family are halfway to France before anyone realises Kevin is missing.
Meanwhile Kevin, who knows how to do nothing for himself, must tackle day-to-day tasks like grocery shopping and paying for Pizza…oh and foil the exploits of two career crooks, played by Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern.
Macaulay Culkin’s turn as Kevin earned him a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor (comedy or Musical) and help turn him into a mega star who’d get a string of movies, his is own animated series and wind-up Godparent to Michael Jackson’s daughter.
Home Alone, which was a must-see movie at the time, became America’s highest grossing live-action comedy of all-time. A record not beaten for twenty-one years, until The Hangover: Part II in 2011.
