The movie I am going to talk about today need no introduction. Its a legendary film, and I am really a nobody to share my opinion about this film. But, the only thing I can share is my admiration towards it. As written in the title, today I'll be talking about "Deer Hunter". A movie that moved me and changed my perspective about wars. The word war may sound interesting and brave to some of us. But, killing millions of lives for the sake of conquering a piece of land is something that shouldn't be supported.
I don't know where to start about this film. To start with the movie just follows the lives of three friends and how their lives gets changed after the war. The movie is divided into three parts, the first part shows three friends behavior before the war, the second part shows them inside the war and finally the the third is the aftermath of the war. We can really feel every step of the journey of these characters and how they change from when they were full of life to being completely life less.
The movie tries to tell us the value of life in a war. There is no value for your life in a war. The movie is famous for its repetitive use of Russian roulette game. The game acts like a metaphor, its kind of trying to say that the price of the soldiers life is equal to the price of the bullet.
The movie features the carrier best performances by legendary actors like Robert DeNiro and Christopher Walken. The scene during the end of the movie where DeNiro meets Walken after a long time and Walken makes him play the Russian roulette is one of the most incredible and painful scene ever. This scene never fails to send chills across my spine and give me goosebumps.
The way the war changes a person internally is definitely something that we should look at. Movies like this makes me feel luck for being where I am right now. We live in time which is much safer that what we had in the past. When ever you feel depressed or sad just remember that you are alive and you will be alive.
I really love this film. One of the best of its kind and you definitely need to put this on your watch list. Thank you for reading this post. For more reviews and post about movies follow me. Cheers !
