As I promised in my previous post about Imatra, here's to you 45 photos from the Veteran Museum. Less text than photos. If you want longer stories, you have to visit the museum. :) I used my Canon EOS 550D camera and a Huawei P9 phone. I bet you can tell which photos are taken with the phone and which with the camera.
Open photos in to a new tab / window if you want to see a larger version of it.

Here we go.
Villa Piponius. Open daily 10-16. Call if you want to be sure that we are open. Adults 5€, children 2€. Cultural historical Veteran Museum about our fatherland's fate years.
The House of Piponius
This neoclassical building is still known as the builders name, although medical licentious Henrik Piponius died as early as 1927 when the house was just completed.
In 1979, Reino Ikävalko, a judge with his mother Olga and his son Jarmo, bought the house. Land areas in the vicinity of the Imatra Valtionhotelli (Imatra State Hotel) were originally part of the Ikävalko family estate.
In this house, international service organizations have always been and will be respected.
R.R. Rima, Licentiate of Medicine, is the longest resident of the house. Rima was the first president of the Imatra Rotary Club in 1947, and Emil Zitting was the second President in 1948.
Reino Ikävalko is the initiator of Lions activity in Imatra. The LC-Imatra club was founded in 1954. Today, the Villa has the Veteran and Lotta Museum, which bears the name of Reino Ikävalko.
| Someone greeting you outside the Villa Piponius... | ...and someone greeting you when you step in. |
| The amount of historical items is huge. Be prepared to spend an hour or two if you want to photograph everything or hear detailed stories. | New Finland: Vyborg is again ours. |
| A shrapnel from the war left to the Piponius family wall painting in the Fresco room. | The fresco is behind the chandelier through the doorway. |
Through here you can get to the turquoise kitchen.
Kaisa coffee substitute.
On the left you can see a dollhouse. The pictures from the wonderful furniture and figurines in the dollhouse will get their own post in the near future. So sequel is coming. :)
