I drove about 15 km north to Paimela to buy winter tires from a one man company called Paimelan Rengas. I'm a happy repeat customer. Paimelan Rengas has low overhead costs and excellent service. The owner and only employee works from home. He has built a hall to work in at an old farm originally owned by his grandparents.
Below are some photos from along the way.
The road to Paimelan Rengas.
The business is on the hilltop.
This was taken on the way back to Lahti at the northern end of Paimelanlahti bay. The largest ski jump of Lahti Ski Stadium is visible over lake Vesijärvi.
A road sign pointing the way to the village of Vaania. By a funny co-incidence "vaania" means "to stalk".
Paimelanlahti Bay and some fields. The crops have been harvested already. First snow fell last week but it melted almost upon contact with the ground. More snow is forecasted for tomorrow.
