A very gray day today. Some snow, some wind, some rain. No complaint from me!
I posted this meme last night and I swear I conjured a single clap of thunder earlier! 💕
I’m a witch.
Thunder and lightning has always been my favourite weather, (second only to warm sunshine of course). If it must storm, at least make it light up the sky and shake the house with thunder! The day I arrived here at the homestead it gave a me beautiful welcome with a thunderstorm, I couldn’t have planned it better myself.
Thunderstorms aren’t as common here as they are on the prairies, and when we do get them, very rarely can you see distinguishable bolts of lightning, mostly just flashes through thick cloud.
Something I will actually miss about Edmonton. I obsessively follow radar and weather patterns, regardless of where I’m living. I’ve lived in a dozen or so different places in Canada from east to west, and Alberta has the best lightning shows I’ve seen! Hands down!
But it also has weeks of -30°C which I will NEVER miss!
I am a creature made for rocky beaches and sunbeams.
So far this winter, we have gotten tons of sunshine and really beautiful temperatures for December and January, I’m LOVING it!
Makes me feel alive for the first time in years. The wood heat seems to make a huge difference as well. The natural gas mainly used in Edmonton is so expensive and totally pathetic when faced with extreme cold. I felt chilly for 6-8 months of the year there!
Perhaps if I’d have had a wood stove it would have been better 🤔

I made a batch of my homemade fudge pops!
I use a can of full fat coconut milk, cocoa, a splash of almond milk, vanilla, a little bit of cane sugar and a little bit of maple syrup, plus a pinch of salt.
They were amazing!!!

This may have been my best batch yet! I rarely measure for my own recipes, I get used to pouring close to the right amounts and adjusting as I go.

The puffin is coming along, looks like someone took a sword to his face, but that’s ok.
I’m enjoying the deep colours on this one, and once I add in all the details, lights and darks, the flowers and all that jazz, it should look great!
The wall hanging is getting there too! Just a few more details to add on to fill it out, plus some beads!
