You never know what can happen when you go fishing – as long as you are giving it a shot, strange things can happen.
A while back, I somehow convinced Kristine (she was my girlfriend at the time, but is now my now wife) to join me for some bass fishing one afternoon and we hit a local pond to see if there was anything biting. This particular pond had a lot of weeds around it, so wildlife also likes hanging around there.
I picked up some nightcrawler worms to ensure we caught a few fish, as bass love the worms and can be harder to catch with artificial lures. Of course, this meant I had to put the worm on Kristine’s hook, as she found it too gross.
Once I rigged her up, she cast the worm out and then started talking about the cute turtle she saw. Well, that turtle saw the cute worm she was fishing with as well. Her reaction was not quick enough, as she let the turtle eat the worm and hook… oops! She proceeded to catch the turtle, but I was able to unhook it fairly quickly and the turtle was unharmed! Oh, and we did manage to catch some bass as well… Here are a few pictures:
Of course, my greatest catch in this story is my wife ;)
I have, unfortunately, caught a few other of the incorrect species before. While ocean fishing with live anchovies, I once had a seagull swoop down and eat my anchovy (it was supposed to be going deep to the fish, but instead was swimming near the surface) so I had to reel in and unhook the bird, which of course was trying to fly away – it was quite a scene! (bird was OK!)
Have you accidentally caught something other than a fish before?
Appreciate you being here!
