Kayak fishing is one of my favorite hobbies. I find the fishing to be extremely peaceful and it ends up being good exercise to kayaking around lakes, rivers and the ocean.
My fishing kayak is a beast – it is practically impossible to tip over, but that also means it is fairly large, wide, and heavy, which makes it take extra effort in order to paddle long distances or maneuver in tight spots. I decided to go with stability and safety of my gear, over speed and mobility.
My favorite place to kayak fish is in the local ocean harbors here in Southern California. The weather is nearly always perfect, and there are so many different species of fish that you never know what is going to be on the other end of your line.
My most successful YouTube video is of my brother and I kayak fishing Newport Harbor in Newport Beach with about 1,400 views. This particular day out, we caught over 30 fish with 8 different species. I wanted to share the video with you, and give you a glimpse into the fun that is kayak fishing:
Let me know if you have tried kayak fishing before and what your experience was!
Thanks for reading/watching!
Take care,
