I love exploring small fishing rivers and streams to find fish that have never seen a lure or fly before. There is something exhilarating about finding a great fishing spot that nobody else knows about. Sometimes this involves going off-roading or doing some hiking in order to find the spot, but it can be totally worth it.
I was in Bishop, CA (really the mountains around Bishop) doing some exploring with a couple of buddies and we found an awesome little stream that contained some beautiful wild Brook Trout, which are fairly rare where we are in California. We ended up camping a couple of nights near the stream and had a great time catching these wild trout and taking in the amazing scenery. Although we did have to battle some intense mosquitos, the trip ended up being an unforgettable experience and I long to do it again. Here are a few pictures from our adventure off the beaten path:
Often times it is the journey and thrill of the hunt that is the most enjoyable part of the fishing experience! Great times!
Appreciate you stopping by, and hope you enjoyed the photos!
