While someone out there is still willing to put down $2K for a 2019 launch of a $129,900 model car (only prototypes & CGI renderings thusfar), I have no idea why H. Fisker would reveal the first "metal" model via social media.
Why would you do that to the loyal fan boys who were patiently waiting for the production model reveal party in two weeks?
Not very surprising since we know his character for premature reveal of Fisker Karma, 2008, with launch in 2012.
Other claims of a 400 mile range per charge was originally intended for a graphene based battery. Graphene is a sheet of carbon atoms bound together in a honeycomb lattice pattern, many layers of this material makes it a great conductor of electrical energy. Graphene technology to enhance batteries is suppose to make them lighter, durable, and suitable for high levels of energy storage.
However, the only applications thus far are smaller Li-ION batteries used for small electronics and powering stationary equipment.
Now comes the Lithium Nickel Manganese Cobalt Oxide also lithium-mananese-cobalt-oxide (LiNiMnCo, NMC, NCM)
The 9 minute charging promise will most likely not be achieved without a solid state graphene based battery pack, but that doesn't stop the Mr. Fisker from claiming it's still gonna happen. He must be willing to build-out charging stations that can deliver a load even greater than the current SuperCharging stations of Tesla. Maybe, but I'm sure he's not willing to run two car companies into bankruptcy court.
Oh well, at least he can get back at Tesla by having suicide AND butterfly wing doors on the same car!
