Great Tips For Staying Motivated And Achieving Your Goal
Great tips for staying motivated and achieving your goal
This goes out to one of my good friends that could use some of this tips and not only him but the large crowd that faces struggles like staying motivated while getting in shape or loosing that extra weight, that was bothering them and tried countless times and countless diets that eventually failed to fulfil their need and ended up ditching them and think nothing works and they can’t do it like other people can.
If losing weight would be as easy as logging everything that you put in your mouth everybody could do it. Thing is, this process has to have a use and has to be coupled with a fitness routine. It is true that the ones that diet and keep track of their food intake lose more weight than those who keep no records but having a fitness routine is different and adds up the effect, and as a result the set goals are achieved much faster and the result are more eye pleasing.
There are a lot of tips and advice out there for how to do it , thing is a bunch of people fail , and it is not due to the way they are doing it, any action is better than no action, they fail because they lose their motivation to keep going and stay on track. For a lot of us exercising is not always the easy part and even though shedding weight is a three part process where exercising and cutting calories are vital the mental outlook can mean the difference between success and failure.
The key is to adapt the right attitude before you start any plan, and if you are really serious about it you have to think long term.
So here we go:
Define you motivation(s)
You probably have a lot of reasons for wanting to lose weight. You would be surprised to find out that some of them are outright bad. If they are developed out of pressure from someone else, you motivation will decrease over time, so you have to build your reasons on you wanting to improve your life and someone else’s vision of it.
So start by writing your reasons down and when you finished highlight the ones that involve other people. Rewrite your list taking those reasons out, and inspect the remaining ones for phrases like “have to” or “must”. These words imply an obligation, not desire and in time they will also diminish your motivation to stay on track. Change all these words into “want to” and if they lose relevance keep going down the list until you find few that are the most compelling .
Uncover your emotional obstacles
Start evaluating your eating triggers and you will be able to develop more effective strategies to deal with underlying emotions like anger, sadness, boredom, these being the most common reasons behind overeating. Keeping in mind that every act of committing to a diet comes with a set of challenges that you need to overcome but in the same time every change you make will bring you closer to your goal and a bolder and more confident person all around but also in setting more ambitious goals in the future.
Set an attainable goal
If you’re going to go crazy from the beginning with you goal setting , the first time you do a progress check you will realize that you are not even close and then the sky is falling and you give up on everything convinced that it is not working even though you gave it your best .
Think smaller even if it is something that you will probably attain it quite easily. The fact that you have reached your first goal will give you the extra motivation to keep going and next time set a more difficult one.
Visualize the new you
Just setting a weight loos goal might to vague and would not give you a clear image of what you want to achieve, so have a mental picture of yourself, of how will you look like when you reach your first goal. Take a picture of you before you start and compare it with the one of the first goal that you have achieved. As they say keep your eyes on the prize, keep the image of you that you want to become and work towards that mentally and physically. Visualizing the body that you desire will help greatly in keeping your motivation up.
Reach out to others for support
Asking for help and support might be somehow embarrassing for some people, yet in order to stick to a fitness program they need to search for specialized knowledge from the one that are capable of giving it and support from like-minded people.
Consider joining a social networking site or online community with fitness trainers and nutrition specialists. People that get this type of support are proven to achieve their goals and stay motivated much easier than the ones that are trying to do it on their own.
Celebrate your achievements
Rewards reinforce positive behavior especially when they are meaningful, so when you reach a milestone in your quest treat yourself to something that celebrates that particular goal that you have achieved and which will assist you in furthering your progress.
So start thinking yourself as an athlete, and not a spectator. Set a goal, look for help and support, get your routine going and have some fun. Know that won’t be easy but you will setting yourself up for a lifetime of better health , more happiness and more energy for everything else in your life.
