Today starts the second cycle of my split, so it's the second time training back and doing deadlifts. After trying to do deads at the end of Monday's workout, I switched them to the beginning so my back wouldn't be fried already when doing this major lift. It worked well, though I also switched to using some fat grips on the bars instead of my usual gloves, and my forearms got a huge pump from them, which limited my pulls a fair bit. I brought straps but didn't use them today. Going forward, I think I will skip the fat grips for back day and go back to using gloves and straps.
Deadlifts
45x10, 135x10/10/10
Back
Wide grip pulldown: 143x10/10/8/6
Barbell row: 135x6, 95x10/8
Seated cable row: 110x10/10/10
Straight arm pulldown: 55x8, 44x9/6
I don't know when the last time I trained on a Sunday was - it's been forever. The gym was empty except for staff and three other people working out. I also went in the early afternoon, after a late breakfast and sketchy lunch. It was an average workout overall - I did get a great lat pump and loved feeling that flare again. I also didn't walk this morning, having slept in until about 9am, so that may have contributed to my feeling rather flat. My shoulder felt okay, only complaining mildly on the last exercise, which is part of why I didn't push too hard today. Laying on the hydromassage after and feeling the heat radiate across my back was particularly sweet. All in all, a good, solid workout. Getting it done!
Chest and shoulders tomorrow! I'm looking forward to pushing myself a bit more on the decline presses, body permitting. :)
