Good Reasons To Have A Fitness Lifestyle After Early Years
Keep it up
There is no doubt that fitness a way of life and those that get started at some point and think that they will do it for some time and then everything will be fine, they are terribly wrong. Why? Because it’s a long term commitment, not a quick been there done that and expect effects to last forever. It’s an investment for long term in your health, quality of life with even some social aspects. It is understandable that after some years there cases when your health does not permit you to get workouts done, or at least not as often as you would like due to your body’s capability to recover as you were in your teens. This does not mean you should stop it altogether and get lazy, there are a whole lot of reasons you should keep up an active lifestyle and monitor your diet to a certain level. Not taking it to the extreme but at least avoid stuff that is clearly detrimental to your health and go towards things that aid your body’s ability to cope with challenges of day to day life.
Ø Relieve stress
It is a great feeling walking in the gym with a lot of stress built up, putting your headphones on zoning out and disconnecting from everything around you and dive in your program for the day. In those moments nothing else matters and you are in a world of your own. The endorphins release that physical activity kick-starts helps you sleep better that leads to lower levels of stress. Even something as going out for a walk could give you the chance to clear your thoughts get some extra oxygen in the bloodstream and could have a similar effect as going to the gym. Any type of exercise can have a very positive affect on the brain and mind and relieve some of the symptoms of depression and anxiety. Keeping up your level of physical activity after your early years can help you stay stress free and improve your mental health.
Ø Improved sleep
It definitely depends on the individual and the type of exercise. Some people struggle to fall asleep after an intense session in the gym because they pushed their bodies to the limit and raised their heart rate and core temperature releasing big quantities of adrenaline. This is a good reason to get your training session earlier in the day and return your adrenalin level to a normal levels and be able to zone out and get a good night’s sleep.
Others would tax their bodies so hard in the gym that as soon as they hit the pillow they are out. You could take that approach too, if that suites you.
In both cases the effects are similar, getting that good night’s sleep that releases the stress and gives your body the chance to recover and get you ready for the next day.
Ø More energy
Do more and get more. If your day consisted in a lot of sitting around or just lying on the sofa in the weekend, this will cause you to fatigue quicker, feel unenergetic and that will have a negative effect on your life and overall general state.
Getting up, going to the gym, going for a jog or just taking a long walk your mind will be more alert and responsive. Immediately there will be improved brain activity better levels of concentration and so on. Exercise leads to more energy, release of more endorphins, reduced levels of stress, improved sleep and the list can go on.
Ø Lower chances of illness
The older we get the more our bodies are prone to illnesses and diseases. There are cases when there is nothing to be done, it’s just the way it is, but exercising regularly increases the ability of your body to get stronger and boost your immune system and be able to fight a lot of sick days off. Blood circulation, cholesterol levels, blood pressure, diabetes, resting heart rate can be improved with exercise being done on a regular bases. A 30 minutes aerobic session a day, will give your body that extra help to sort all these issues out, especially after you get over your 40’s.
Ø Keep aches and pains away
A basic characteristic of our bodies will determine our bodies when working harder through regular exercise to adapt and get stronger. Parts of our bodies that are not put through exercise regularly can get stiff after a certain age. If there parts that are functioning up to standards like bad knees for example, not getting them to keep their mobility will have bad consequences in time, so by walking, cycling, resistance training, will get them stronger and in time an improvement will be noticed. Sometimes the joints are being affected by increased weight, so a first step in fixing the problem would be getting a well-balanced diet corroborated with regular exercise. Same goes for back pain, hip issues and so forth The more often you exercise the stronger those body parts get.
So don’t shy away from a little of more effort and get the benefits of being active.
