Flint knapping was a skill of hunter/gatherers of long ago. The correct material would need to be chosen for the flints. Materials such as flint, obsidian, chert, jasper and quartzite, might would have been chosen for the task.
Flint knapping is popular today as a hobby and to not let a craft be lost. The arrowheads pictured above, are true Native American arrowheads. We don't know how old they are, but they are not modern day made.
I used to personally know a flint knapper who would not tell people that he made arrowheads. When they asked how old they were he would reply that they were millions of years old. (meaning the rock they were made of ! :)
