The finger lakes is a geographic area in upstate New York.
In total there are 11 finger lakes in total.
They are : Conesus Lake, Hemlock Lake, Candice Lake, Honeoye Lake, Canandaigua Lake, Keuka Lake, Seneca Lake, Cayuga Lake, Owasco Lake, Skaneateles Lake, and Otisco Lake are the official Finger Lakes.
All of the 11 Finger Lakes drain north into Lake Ontario.
There are other large lakes in the area as well that should be mentioned. Oneida Lake, Cazenovia Lake, Onandaga Lake, Cayuta Lake, Silver Lake, Waneta Lake, Lamoka Lake.
The region was carved by glaciers and therefore there are a lot of waterfalls in the area.
The region has thriving agriculture, salt, tourism and education sectors.
