Use buttercream frosting to coat your cake. Start with white buttercream and add little bit of food colouring at time to get different shades of blue then start from the darkest blue frosting the buttom of the cake and make your way up. Once you reach the top, you use the same colour as the last layer which in this case is the third layer. Very simple and gorgeous!!
