Have you heard that the coolest kitchen in town as well as our regular restaurant reviews are now right here on Hive?
Yep that's the Food Fight Friday kitchen run by the three Top Dogs aka ,
and
; as well as the Tasteem restaurant review team run by
, some who have been MIA.
I've made it my mission to find their hideout so went all the way to the southernmost tip of Africa to a place called Agulhas.
I'd like to invite you to join me for Breakfast, and we'll have ourselves some real good old South African grub at a quirky little place down there known as Suiderhart. It will be a kind of mini reunion but I'm not going to name all of you, you know exactly who you are so I'm looking forward to seeing you!
I took a peak inside to see if there's room for us all and yes there were plenty of empty tables at that time; different story as we left this quaint little joint after breakfast!
There's a big signboard outside telling us what kind of grub to expect inside, all sounds really good as you can see for yourself!
I wonder if this little thatch-roof building was someone's home once upon a time? It really looks very inviting and there are bicycles for hire if you'd like to do your search on wheels!
Let's go inside before the crowds hit this place as I see some tourists walking around with cameras and binoculars as this is a popular stopover for many.
By the way, one of the oldest lighthouses in South Africa is here and I brought Mr @pinmapple down here a little while ago; you should also check out what he can do for you.
Back to our mission for the day, let's grab a table inside this quaint little place that has some really nice artsy touches.
As we walk in this cheeky apron is hanging on the wall - it's saying My kitchen was clean last week, pity you missed it!
A really lovely painting of our dear departed Madiba graces the wall at the entrance.
Of course my eyes will be drawn to the cake table again, everything looks very tempting - that Red Velvet Cake is calling my name but I'll be good and order something else, have to leave the good stuff for our top dogs just in case!
There are old milk cans, giant wooden clogs and an old piano accordion hiding under the table.
Who would have thought discarded light bulbs could be turned into a work of art? Really gorgeous so I know what I'll be collecting when I get back home!
Let's take a look at the menu and decide what we'd like to order - I see some good old fashioned favourites on here; Camp Coffee, Classic Milkshakes, Home Baked Pies, Suiderhart breakfast, English breakfast and even a Waffle Breakfast to name some breakfast options; yep you're allowed milkshake for breakfast when on vacation!
Our table settled for Cream Scones - sweet and savoury, no guessing which one I went for!
Served with a good strong Cheddar cheese, fresh Cream and Strawberry jam or sliced Biltong which is a typical South African favourite of dried cured meat; only the best cuts are used for this.
When last did you have a double thick Strawberry Milkshake with sprinkles on top?
I was really good and let that sweet temptation pass me by so ordered a Cappuccino which looked so good that I forgot all about taking a pic, so you'll just see the dregs of mine!
That was really good, hope you enjoyed our little breakfast stopover but look what this is telling us on the way out; I will translate for you again - Today is a good day to be thankful.
Sure we can all find something to be thankful for, even in these trying times, just take a look around, starting with your loved ones.
So let's get on our bicycles, enjoy the rest of your day and hope you show us where you had your Breakfast for Tasteem and the food you brought to the Food Fight Friday table!
