The golf season has practically finished and we are on the international breaks with the football. I hate this week in September. Going out of my mind here. I feel like Pablo above. I have nothing to write about either. There were a few interesting football games that happened this week . Ireland got their draw with Switzerland. Wales bearly bet Azerbaijan. Harry Kane scored a hat-trick with England.
But the interesting game was The Netherlands versus Germany. The dutch won 4-2. But the Germans did not play well. They collapsed in the second half. Now the Netherlands are an excellent football team but I think the German's made life hard for themselves. Low has come up with a 5-3-2 set up when Germany do not have the ball. They sat back and waited for the Dutch to lose the ball. Once they got it Germany went on the counter attack. The problem was that they were leaving vast space in behind. The Dutch read this and Gini Wijnaldum capitalised twice. Low did not react to the Dutch and the game was lost. The Germans were playing a football totally opposite of the great Dutch team of total football.
It has not been the first time that Low did not reach to the opposition making changes. The German players were not very happy. They did not criticise Low's tactics directly but they did say some snippets in the media that were critical. You could read between the lines one can say.
Low denied the match was not lost because of the tactics. He put the blame on the couple of individual mistakes.
The players were not so sure.
Bayern Munichs Kimmich said
When you run after the ball so much, it's tough mentally and then mistakes happen.
Niklas Sule said:
The team were not being true to their own aspirations.
All this has to be sorted out by tomorrow night with their must win game against a Northern Ireland team in first position in the group table. The counter attacking team that seeks safety in numbers at the back is far from fruition at the moment. Germany could be in trouble here.
