According to the Sky Italy, Manchester United have been dealt a blow in the race for Alessio Romagnoli's signature, with the Italian centre-back in talks over a contract renewal at the San Siro
Jose Mourinho is looking to reinforce the team's defence at the end of the season, with Marcos Rojo, Daley Blind and Chris Smalling possibly departing in the summer, but Romagnoli’s future could well remain in Italy considering his latest comments.
“Renewal? It depends on me. My current contract expires in 2020 and the renewal I can earn with the matches and performances, and then it will be the task of the managing director Rossonero Fassone and my attorney Sergio Berti to take care of my future,” he said.
The 23-year-old, who joined Milan from AS Roma in 2015, has made 21 Serie A appearances in the current campaign.
Notwithstanding Romagnoli lining up alongside Leonardo Bonucci at the heart of the defence, Milan have conceded 30 goals this season. Although he doesn’t appear keen to leave, instead the Italy international is looking forward to committing his future, which is terrible news for the Red Devils.
TalkSPORT claim that Chelsea and Barcelona are also keen on the defender’s signature.
