It is soon time for this seasons Nations League to come to an end. It is going to be interesting, especially for Sweden who unfortunately ended up in league C, which is far lower than the capabilities of the team in reality. But, it is still going to be tough to win the group, because they are battling intensely with Slovakia, both teams standing with 10 points after four matches.
What does that mean? Both Slovakia and Sweden have won all their matches, with one exception... the match in Bratislava in Slovakia on October 10th, ended with a draw, 2-2. So, they seem to win all matches in the group, except for the ones they play against one another. That also means that the match in Sweden on November 16 will be like a group final, because the time winning that match will have the best result if we look at the matches between the teams, which also means it will win the group. Once again, if Sweden wins on November 16, they will win the group, no matter the outcome of the final match, and the same is true for Slovakia. But, if the match ends with a draw, then there will be counting goals etc and the results of the final matches will also matter (in which Sweden will play against Azerbaijan), while Slovakia will play against Estonia.
Sweden has scored 11 goals so far during their four Nations League matches, and the opponents have only scored three goals against them (whereof Slovakia scored two). Sweden is used to holding the ball within the team, and they have had an average possession of 58% so far in their four matches. If Slovakia wants to win the group, then the defenders need to find a way to stop the two Swedish super attackers Viktor Gyökeres and Alexander Isak. They have scored 4 and 3 goals so far during the Nations League, making them some of the most scoring players so far overall in the Nations League. Besides them, Sebastian Nanasi has scored twice, while Yasin Ayari and Ken Sema has scored one goal each.
What can we expect? Slovakia is a very tough opponent, and they have played in the most recent European Championships in football, and they are capable of causing trouble for even the best teams, like Spain, Germany, and France. But, they are also capable of playing poor football, so it might be kind of accidental how this match will end. I do know that I am cheering for Sweden, and I hope they will get back to League B, the place where Sweden deserves to be.
