English Version - Click to DisplayWell it seems that Back to the wanderings, the season started and I wanted to cover it from the beginning but it didn't happen, between lack of time and work it just didn't happen. What I don't have is any complaints about all the drama that has unfolded recently that will possibly finally define how good or bad Red Bull's second car is. The first proof of this was last weekend's Japanese Grand Prix, where to be honest I would have been better off saving myself those two hours on Sunday as the only interesting thing was the qualifying. Verstappen once again demonstrated that he is considered one of the best Formula 1 drivers in the last four championships he has won. During last Saturday's qualifying session, he pulled off a total stunt by stealing the Pole from Norris with practically magic, it is known that the Red Bull is not as ready as in other years but what is certain is that Verstappen is squeezing it to its full potential, even Fernando Alonso confirmed this during his statements after the qualifying session, when he saw how Verstappen took Pole by an extremely small margin and it is known that in Japan, track position is everything.
English Version - Click to DisplayBy now, it is common knowledge that Verstappen won in Japan. The Cat is Out of The Bag; he stayed ahead of the two McLaren, which were mechanically superior, during the 53 laps to secure his fourth consecutive victory in Suzuka, a feat that speaks volumes about his skill behind the wheel. What makes this victory even more impressive is the rumor or controversy surrounding Red Bull this season after Checo Perez leaves through the back door after his poor performance and the whole of Latin America defends him as if it is not the car after Lawson only lasted two races. After Japan, Max is now just one point behind Lando Norris despite driving what many consider to be an inferior car and, above all, too much Verstappen, as the McLaren is widely considered to be the best on the grid with two talented drivers like Norris and without much less discounting Piastri who layers and dethrones Norris from being the main driver. So far, that's how the season is going; Lando in Australia, Lewis in the China SPRINT, Oscar in China and now Max in Japan. I think that this year with Lewis in Ferrari, the competition may be tighter, thus distributing the podiums more among Red Bull, McLaren, Mercedes and Ferrari.
English Version - Click to DisplayJapan 2025, as well as being proof that Verstappen is a genius behind the wheel, was thought to be the litmus test for Yuki Tsunoda who recently, in a flash, after Lawson was practically left behind with the Safety Car, as we say here “behind the ambulance”; Red Bull desperately throws Yuki in at the deep end with just one week of simulator time to be Verstappen's second in Red Bull. Yuki becomes the driver with the most seasons in Red Bull's Jr team to be able to move up to the first team, On multiple occasions he has been able to drive the car and has always said that it is a car that suits his driving style, a car that drifts its rear end and has a direct apex turn. So apparently Yuki and Verstappen also like driving it. Maybe, I say maybe, this is where Red Bull has made the mistake of looking for fast drivers, but not looking for fast drivers with a style similar to Verstappen's. Many will wonder then why Checo did well at the beginning and there are multiple variants, one of them was when they banned the one-sided brake distributor which allowed gravity to adjust the braking of the car making it skid, making it much more predictable, this and the psychological aspect for me was what destroyed Checo. After Lawson was taken out of Red Bull after just two races, half the internet started criticizing the car and saying that the problem was NEVER Checo, to the surprise of many, Yuki went through to Q2 in Japan and didn't really go through to Q3 because in only his first race the team launched him with enough time for an Outlap and Flyinglap, with new soft tires, in my opinion asking a lot of him in his first race.
Now let's talk about results, was it worth changing Yuki for Lawson? The answer is simple, YES it was worth it. Tsunoda starts 15th and finishes 12th, Lawson now with RB starts 13th and finishes 17th behind Doohan and Hulkenberg. In theory, the car of Racing Bulls, the Red Bull Jr. team, is considered an easier and less demanding car to drive, allowing you to make certain mistakes and sort them out without too much punishment. Also considering that the conditions of the circuit, such as the recent resurfacing of the renovated pavement, were in favor of those cars that degrade a lot, in any case an advantage for many and perhaps favorable conditions for Lawson.
English Version - Click to DisplayTalent has to be recognized when it shines so brightly, there are excellent drivers on the grid and among my favorites Hamilton so that it is not said that I am a Red Bull lover, in reality I do not go for the teams but for the drivers. The teams are generally full of useless people and it's always about the money and never about the sport, well, if it's not the most expensive sport in the world. With what happened in Japan it's not set in stone that Yuki is going to win races or that he's going to be Verstappen's perfect teammate but he has definitely had a better start than Lawson, But let's not be fooled, Yuki knows Suzuka like the back of his hand, so let's see how he does in Bahrain this coming weekend, which will most likely be more interesting with its long straights, but also the ones that often create a DRS train.
