The article speak about a foster care home operator who was sueing CFS for $162,000 because CFS stopped sending payments.
Jesse and Cristy Dourado are being accused of letting kids use drugs and using inappropriate discipline. Seems odd that only after being sued does CFS accuse him of this. Some of the best staff let us do what ever in hopes that we would learn from our mistakes. I had many staff smoke weed with me as a youth and although it was wrong of them not one of those staff is memorable as a bad staff.
First Nations Family Advocate Cora Morgan is quoted as saying "I strongly, strongly believe that mainstream society has to take a look at what is happening in this current child welfare system, because people have these glamorized ideas that children need to be taken and that they are put into these loving foster homes, and that isn't the reality."
A statement from the foster home operators reads. "When we filed the original claim, we were confident in our position and the statement of defence doesn't change that. We are pleased that it will be handled in the court system where evidence of claims is important and that we are confident in our judicial system and the process."
CFS is accusing them of many things and this seems quite small compared to what we got cooking up here. Soon I will be helping some people seek legal action for abuse in care.
Will they get justice I do not know but it is worth a shot and if the laws keep protecting these self righteous family destroyers while going easy of serial sexual predators then we need a new government. All the parties are fail in Manitoba.
We need a new option.
