Préparation de la ceinture en coton : cette bande de tissu viendra fixer les lattes en sandwich et reposera sur le corset. Elle se fixe sur le côté, grâce à deux attaches types soutien-gorge.

Découpage du polystyrène. Je taille une forme bombée, afin de donner un arrondi harmonieux à mes lattes. Le poly est fixé avec de la colle sans solvant (sinon il fond) et des épingles de couturière. Ces dernières créent un renfoncement de la mousse qui n'était pas prévu mais que j'aime beaucoup, car il donne un air de "rivet" d'une pièce de métal.
Polystyrene cutting. I cut a curved shape to give a harmonious rounding to my slats. The poly is fastened with solvent-free glue (otherwise it melts) and seamstress pins. These last ones create a recess in the foam which was not planned but which I like very much, because it gives an air of "rivet" of a piece of metal.
Peinture. Pour m'aider à faire une forme harmonieuse et à le pas dépasser, je trace la forme avec un cutter, en coupant très légèrement la surface (sur un millimètre, pas plus). Le pinceau viendra enfoncer la mousse et s'appuyer sur l'autre côté de la coupure, créant un contour net. Avec des tracés rectilignes, j'aurai pu utiliser du scotch, mais avec les arrondis j'ai dû utiliser une autre méthode !
Painting. To help me to make a harmonious shape and not to overcome, I draw the shape with a cutter, cutting very slightly the surface (on a millimetre, not more). The brush will press the foam and rest on the other side of the cut, creating a neat contour. With straight lines, I could have used scotch, but with the rounds I had to use another method!
Erreurs à ne pas refaire / Mistakes not to do again
Concernant la jupe, un point important est à prendre en compte si vous voulez faire des grands mouvements : bien prendre un arc de cercle assez grand pour avoir les volants assez larges.
INFO CAPITALE : Cette magnifique jupe de lattes m'interdit de m'asseoir autrement que sur un tabouret et avec beaucoup d'équilibre x) c'est con, mais c'est un paramètre que je n'avais pas pris en compte au début, et passer une journée de convention sans poser son derrière, c'est long.
For the skirt, an important point is to consider if you want to make large movements: take a circle arc big enough to have the ruffles wide enough.
