Well, I appreciate your explanation, but it doesn't fit the equations I saw in your post. Each iteration there added to the original equation. It didn't replace it. The form of iteration seemed to me to be (0^2 + 2)^2 = 4, then the next iteration would be ((0^2 + 2)2)2 = 16, and so on for more iterations (I used actual numbers rather than symbols to show that the original quantity of z seemed not to change to me).
Anyway, I don't see z changing in the above equation, but I don't think my understanding math is particularly important and don't want to bother you any further about it if I am being especially stupid.
Edit: Well, I seem to have missed this part of the equation I read now in your next post: z= z² + c. This is where z gets incremented with each iteration. Sorry about all the time I wasted.
