Peter, Paul and Mary shaped the world with songs of war protest and love. Together with Pete Seeger (1919 - 2014) and Bob Dylan, they helped to create the mood and cultural landscape that forever would change America and the music world. I submit to you the loved song, 'Where Have all the Flowers Gone.' This tune was written in 1955 by Pete Seeger and published in Sing out magazine. In 1960 Joe Hickerson added several verses turning it into a circular song. The Peter, Paul and Mary original recording was in their debut album in 1962. The Pete Seeger 1964 recording of this song made it into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2002 as a folk song.
Sit back and enjoy a great song with video. It is the 25th anniversary concert of Peter, Paul and Mary recorded in 1986 . As I am writing this on Armistice Day I would encourage you take time an thank veterans today for their service. Because of them you and I can enjoy the freedoms we have each day. Know that this song speak of them in a quiet yet moving way.
Oh when will they ever learn...
Oh when will they ever learn...
Sadly we never learn that no one wins in war. And so the circular song continues in real life motivated by money, greed, power and ignorant stupidity.
Thanks for listening, reading and celebrating with me. Feel free to comment, upVote or resteem. - Troy
