What are the chances that on July 4 of all days, my gas tank would need just enough gas that the pump shut off at exactly 17.76, the day in history for which this holiday is named ‘Independence Day’, the day the Declaration of Independence was signed? No, that wasn’t intentional in the slightest, and to be honest was quite the surprise! Pretty crazy coincidence I thought, and then I realized how ironic it was that the very country which on that day declared its independence from the biggest global empire, has now itself become the new biggest global empire, replacing the very global tyranny it first freed itself from.

Strange, how America has become exactly what its founders declared independence from, and fought a bloody war to become free from, in almost every conceivable way. Nearly every grievance laid out against the British Empire in the Declaration of Independence has now been instituted in some way in the US.
I also find it strange that so many take this holiday as an occasion to fly the Stars and Stripes - the flag of the US Empire and not the Revolution - the one American flag that stands not for freedom and independence, but rather tyrannical imperialism, materialism and a modernized slavery of the peasant masses.
It seems a more fitting name for this holiday would be US nationalism day or something along those lines, for it seems more people are celebrating not their false sense of independence but rather their pride to be an American or loyal supporter of the US (and by extension all of its insane domestic and foreign policies and laws). I’m not sure why this is even something to be proud of, being none of us have any say over which country we are born in, particularly when all the values upon which the country was founded have been abandoned and replace by those it declared independence from to escape. But there is certainly no doubt more American flags are being flown today than any other day of the year. I wonder if people realize this isn’t the flag of independence, and it would be far more fitting to wave the original American flag, or the Gadsen Flag, or other flags flown during the Revolution, or even the Confederate flag - all of which were flown for independence from a tyrannical state.
As far as I am concerned, the red in this flags must stand for all the blood this empire-building corporate nation has shed in the name of ‘national security’, ‘fighting communism’ and spreading its unique ‘freedom and democracy’ brand of imperial colonialism abroad over the past century. The white stands for all the innocent lives lost and imprisoned at the hands of the US, and the blue stands for the deception by which this foreign imperial expansionism and domestic police-state tyranny has been imposed. The blue might also stand for allegiance to Zionism and the state of Israel, as blue is their color...
In any event, this flag is not a flag that represents independence, but rather the opposite; and yet it is being proudly flown more by more people on this ‘Independence Day’ than any other day of the year! I even saw one such flag with the words: ‘Make America Great Again!’. Not ‘Make America Free Again’ or even ‘Make America a Beacon of Peace Again’, but ‘Make America Great Again’ - a clear political statement in support of Donald Trump, devoid of any real meaning and by the looks of Trump’s record as president, not a message of independence.
Probably the funniest thing I witnessed was a lady wearing an American flag shirt, along with a medical mask - celebrating American ‘freedom’ while subjecting herself to the current American medical tyranny agenda now being imposed across this country. This really just Illustrates perfectly what this flag really stands for - obedience to the state, not independence.
Maybe it’s time we wake up and re-name the holiday to the more fitting title of ‘Dependence Day’, because that’s what being an American has really become all about - being dependent on the state and its lapdog corporate media mouthpieces.
While so many are busy waving silly flags and celebrating ‘independence,’ I took Dakota for a nice bike ride up the nearby Bear Basin, fun and quite beautiful as well.
As I wrap this post up, I can’t help but wonder just how much money Americans spend on fireworks to celebrate their ‘independence’. A quick Google search revealed the number is over $1 billion, just in fireworks set off for this holiday alone!
On top of that, an average of over $73 PER PERSON is spent on food for those celebrating the holiday (about $6.78 billion), and Americans spend another billion dollars on beer on July 4 - the top beer drinking holiday of the year - and over half a billion on wine. (source)
The money tells the truth about the true meaning of this holiday, and what it really means to celebrate being an American for the majority of Americans - it’s about flying flags and being ‘patriotic’, gorging oneself with tons of meat and junk food at barbecues and grill-outs, getting drunk, and shooting off an insane amount of fireworks. Clearly, freedom in this country has been replaced by consumerism, and independence replaced by dependence - on the government, media, and especially on debt to supply their rampant consumerism.
And this year, a large number of people will be doing all of this while wearing a mask that doesn’t even protect them from a virus that isn’t even more deadly than the common flu! What a crazy sight to behold on this so-called Independence Day!
As the state of relative freedom in this country quickly continues to dwindle year by year, do remember that the highest form of freedom is not an exterior state but an internal one; those who have no fear are those who are truly free, able to sustain a state of inner peace and happiness no matter what outer circumstances they find themselves in.
Maybe those who are in so much fear of a virus essentially no different than the common flu that they can’t even celebrate Independence Day without wearing a mask, should just stay and home and not waste their time pretending they are free...
Happy ‘freedom’ day! Independence Day parody video I made a few years back is embedded below.
