While out on patrol filming the police uncle Bob and myself stumble upon yet another example of police extracting revenue from the citizenry.
My thoughts are this, I don't believe punitively taking money from people is a good way for society to remedy various societal ills. If an idiots going to speed and risk their own life and possibly other peoples lives on the highway I don't see how charging them $200 or $150 for a speeding ticket is going to make them any less stupid. Maybe it's just me, but I think we can do better as a society! Also, I don't see how police really have the ability to protect anyone. Think about it this way, if someone is Raped Can a policeman wave their magic badge in the air and unrape them? If you are attacked on the street by a mugger, can some guy in a silly official looking costume come by and miracle the lump off your head and replace the money back into your pocket? Police can only come along and categorize people into two columns. Column A classifies people as victims. Column B classifies people as perpetrators! Personally I don't want to be either of those things! Doing cop watching over the past seven years has brought home the salient fact that people ultimately bare the responsibility for the protection of themselves and their property. The idea of police actually protecting the people is in my thinking not entirely unlike adults believing the Easter bunny lays eggs for their children to find on Easter.
Can a brother get an upvote or maybe even a re-steem for police accountability?
