Final bed preparation
This morning I have been making frames from Canya for the beds where we shall plant curly kale (which we thought was broccoli), cauliflower (which should definitely be cauliflower), Chinese Cabbage and lastly Broccoli but they are still tiny. I guess in 2weeks they will be ready to plant out.
Lashings and Clove Hitch knots!
it's always handy to know how to join two pieces of wood together without using nails or screws. If done properly it is as strong as nails or screws. Using string its possible to lash to pieces of wood together.
Start with a clove hitch, that's the one that looks like a cross and stays very secure when it is pulled tight.
Then you wrap the string around to hold the horizontal piece up in place.
And then wrap it the other way around which pulls it all tight.
The aim was to make butterfly nets so I could plant things in the beds, without them getting munched on.
I found some old olive nets, and cut in half length ways and there was enough to do two rows with. It had quite a few holes but I covered them with the off cut of the net that was left over from the length.
Bean Planting
Earlier this morning after the dog walk I've planted beans in the ground on the patch next to the pumpkins that was finished off making it ready yesterday.
The first row
We will also be growing the ten cucumber plants in with the beans on the second row below..
We also decided to make our own entrance because the neighbour is full on the trip of the virus being real and she's now taking away people's freedom and using guilt trips to control other people. Before we had to walk past her wagon to get in or out and it was just like having a policeman living on the land because you always felt watched when you went in and out the gate.
Yesterday the neighbor started again because someone came to visit us and she than expected us to go through quarantine again (yes, she shouldnt actually be living alternative and has the mind of one of the masses) and there's no chance of that happening. If she starts talking shit to me I'll tell her straight!
if people carry on believing this they will have to just go and live with other people that believe this too - and we should divide. I don't want to live near someone who is a sheep, thats why I like to live like this away from slavery in the first place.
The New Entrance!
it didn't take long and we all helped out, we made a hole in the fence and then an entrance, and for finishing touches I made some quick steps from rocks from the walls. For now we are using an old car bonnet for the door.
The stone steps to get up onto the wall..
.. it's midday and is already very hot for me. that's why I like to wake up early and then when it's hot I hide in shade and do some more in the afternoon once the sun is lower.
Ive just made some more dough for two white bloomers and will bake it off later.
