Well that was quick! ..The fork I mean :)
Its been a while and I was meant to update on the kitchen tiles already while ago but I just didn't get round to making post on it!
In the last post the kitchen was looking like this..
Its come along way since!
Although I still need to manifest a tile cutter to finish the rest off, I'm sure one will arrive soon enough. The other day I did some more, I was just waiting for the tiles to set dry so I wouldn't disturb them whilst doing the rest. I went to the shop to get more tiles and this time they were all half price so I got a right bargain, and some nice tiles to use.
Firstly I had to take the shelves down
This time round I have a smaller level to use instead of a 2m long one, which isn't very useful for this. I got the huge white tiles and the small black ones and then had to decide what would look better, I had the black tiles to act as a border to split the grey ones and the white ones. I decided to go with the black ones at the bottom.
Here's a tiling tip..
.,..Where most people fuck it up - In the picture below you can see the straight solid edge of the tile against the curvy straight wall..
The space in between the red marked arrows is a bulge in the wall, and if I didn't check this firstly then the tiles would never work out good. Just make sure that you have a few more millimeters of adhesive on the wall than the measurement of the gap by the two red arrows below and then you will overcome the buldge.
There is a socket on the wall and it just so happened that it was the same height as the edge of the big white wall tile, so I didnt need to do much with it, just to take of a bit of tile for the cable to come through. If you ever need to drill a tile, you need a special bit, one used also for drilling holes in glass.
bang on the edge of the tile!
Nearly ready to grout once they are dry!
Yesterday i did the last of the grouting, but yes, I still have the cuts to do before its all really finished.
Oh yes! Nearly forgot.. The otherday I found a brandnew fridge that was ready to be thrown out because it had been dropped and there was a tiny dent in it.
Check this out! Also the microwave was found a long time ago at the same place.
Here is the tiles finished as much as possible until I get a cutter to use..
Im off to work, have a great day!
