Well, I guess Love is a strong word so maybe it is the wrong word to use here. . .Maybe it is more appropriate for me to say that I don't mind the US government and I don't mind America. The only people I really love are my family members but I'm sure the title may trigger some Anti-government, taxation is theft, angry/fearful people. My intentions of this post are not to trigger anyone, but rather give a viewpoint from a person such as myself who doesn't mind what happens and lives a rather care-free existence. Most days I am extremely happy and thankful for the blessings in my life.
There was a point not too long ago(8 years) where I gave a shit about a lot of things that were not in my control and a point in life where I was not grateful for the rather comfy accommodations that being a US citizen has afforded me. I was also caught up in thoughts and everyday seemed like a mental fight. From morning until night I could not turn off the thoughts in my head and not until I learned some life saving meditation techniques was I able to really experience serenity. But that can be saved for another post. . .Today we are going to talk about not minding the US government and not minding America.
- I guess the first question I would have is why should I be anti-government or against the rather peaceful accommodations in America? If I look back on history it seems to me that things could have turned out a lot worse for human beings. Lets just touch on World War II. Would things in the world be better if Hitler won World War II and the Nazi regime took control of Europe and was the global powerhouse? This is a serious question for readers of this post. Maybe there are some people who disagree and I would be open to hearing their viewpoints. Or maybe my history is wrong and the United States did not play a major part in World War II coming to an end. Correct me if I'm wrong there.
- The US government has never done anything to me personally for me to have a problem with them and I also have never done anything to incite violence or poke the bear. I read a story about someone who didn't pay his federal taxes for many years and then took out ads in the newspaper encouraging the government to come after him. This is pretty fucking stupid if you ask me, but to each is own. He was subsequently arrested and thrown in jail and complains how taxation is theft and blah blah blah. Dude probably wouldn't have got caught if he didn't bring attention to himself. I respect someone for sticking to their convictions but can you imagine having a beer with someone like this. Angry little man if you ask me. . .Maybe I'm just one of those "sheep" everyone talks about. Who knows. Quite frankly I feel the government system has many issues but not enough for me to be so black and white in my thinking to feel that the whole system needs to be abolished. It needs a tune up but the total elimination of the US government would have dire consequences for global existence. I would love to hear from the anti-government folk on this one. What has the US government done to you that has been so life changing that you think it should be abolished? I would also like the answer to this question. Why do you people seem so fucking angry? And last question, what would happen to the US if our government was abolished but all other countries still maintained their forms of government? Would things be better or worse for US citizens than they are now?
- I don't mind living in the country with the largest military in the entire world and quite frankly I am grateful I was born in such a country. Wars have been occurring since 2700 BCE and to think that they are going to stop any time soon is a rather unrealistic utopian outlook. In fact, wars are not actually the problem, but rather religion and borders are the issue. Maybe the anti-war folk should focus on getting countries to renounce their borders and eliminate religious beliefs as a method to stop war. This would be the only chance at world peace. Doesn't seem like that is a realistic possibility any time soon, so in the mean time I wont mind that I live safely in the USA.
- Ultimately joy, peace, and serenity in life has nothing to do with outside forces. If you are looking for freedom, looking for peace, looking for happiness it starts with "you" and not that which happens outside of "you". It starts with inner reflection and a search for whom you really are. Freedom is available for every person right here and NOW regardless of your physical location on this planet or the government that is controlling your mind. The freedom that I am speaking of is greater than all worldly ideas and it has to do with the peace that goes beyond understanding. Take a moment to find yourself inside and that which occurs outside will no longer be a threat. Know Thyself as mentioned in certain spiritual texts. Ultimately we are small specks in an ever changing and expanding universe. Enjoy the ride and don't mind what happens. It works for me. :)
