People who are extremely poor are incapable of buying their own healthcare. People with disabilities who are ineligible for social welfare and cannot work will not be able to pay healthcare. Poor people can fall into the sinkhole of poor health and never get out.
It's not about people being entitled or having some kind of inherent right to healthcare, it's about what kind of society you want to live in. Should we only educate the rich since the poor can't afford good education since the market may not be capable of providing this? Maybe. Do you want to live in a country overflowing with poor, uneducated and unhealthy people? A country hindered by crime, disease and ignorance?
I don't. That's one reason I pay taxes in order to help those less fortunate.
