This poem is in response 's prompt for day 104 of her 5-minute freewrite challenge. Today's prompt was cigarettes.
Eat something why don't you?
The thinness on you bones...
It's a body drawn from cigarette
Smoke spindling your alveoli
Smaller and murkier, a paler
Grey to your skin couldn't
Be. See yourself wrapped
Suffocatively warped in tendrils,
Your heart can take it
Less than you think.
I want you to live, but
Most of all I want you
To want to live.
To prosper, to thrive
On something non-evaporative.
