"I dare you to do it," Ralphie said.
"How much will you give me?" Sam asked him in return.
"I dont know. Let me check to see how much I have." Ralphie begins to dig through his pants pockets looking for loose change. "Does anyone have any more money to pitch in?"
"I can put a quarter in the pot." Someone in the group adds.
"Sweet." Ralphie takes his beanie off and places it in the snow. Other kids start emptying their pockets and counting their loose change and begin to toss it in the beanie.
"I don't know. Do you think I will get sick?"
"Nahh, you will be fine. Trust me. I did it last week and it wasn't that bad."
"How much did it cost you to do it?"
"I did it for free because I am not a little wimp like you."
"Whatever, you just aren't a good negotiator."
"That's all the money from everyone." A kid added as he threw his change in. "Someone count it to see how much there is."
Ralphie picks up the beanie and sorts out the loose change and begins to count it.
"Looks like you stand to make $3.75. That will get you a Happy Meal from McDonalds afterwards. So are you going to do it?"
Sam looks at everyone's faces anxiously awaiting his answer. "Sure, only because I want the money."
"Well you have to make sure it is a big hand full and you have to eat it all."
"I know I know," Sam says as he bends down and scoops up a hand full of snow and brings it to his mouth. He looks down at the snow in his hand, its dark yellow color starts to make his stomach turn as he looks at Ralpie's dog staring up at him with his tongue hanging out.
Sam opens his mouth and shoves the pile of yellow snow into his mouth and begins to swallow it as his face slowly starts to turn green.
