100 days of #freewrites went by in a Flash! For those of you who don't know, I am somewhat of a sideline supporter of the #freewrites done by . It also happens to be true that
is my mother and I have hardly seen her so happy since she has been participating on steemit, and I think part of that is the #freewrite activity and the community involved.
So when I heard about #wewrite #freewrite's by the seashore, I decided that I would jump in and participate. I asked if she would mind doing another one with me and, what do you know, she said yes!
The Prompt is - It was Saturday morning...
It was Saturday morning
And all through the house
Cartoons were playing.
I poured the cereal, Fruit loops of course, and began to engage myself in the endless hours of relaxment.
But something was off. Something seemed wrong. It was not as relaxing as it should have been, the cereal not as sweet as I would have liked. The milk too was sour and bllllllllllllllak……..it left a film in my mouth so what to do what to do……… I had sneaked the cereals while Mom was asleep……..
Now once again I would spend my saturday in my room playing with my GI. Joe action figures. They were nice enough, they didn’t argue, just dutifully went out and followed orders, performed the missions given to them without backtalk.
Perhaps that was what was missing….backtalk. Mom didn’t like back talk but truth be told it's always more interesting to get a second opinion, even an annoying one...
So times as there are I grabbed my head and wondered how in the world this happened again. Every Saturday afternoon spent in my room...but wait……...along came Mom to change things up a tad.
She grabbed me and took me outside to the dirt.
That dirty dirt of the back yard. Out where there were bugs, creepy crawlies and other living things. They lived out there, birds ate them, that I learned in a Science book. But to actually go out there….
But mom spread a blanket across the grass, a picnic-like activity. From atop the blanket...
That day spent outside was the funniest ever as I walked back and forth from the house to the blanket. Mom sat and watched me asking “Do you want to play?” and I looked at her like she had grown many horns. I said I’m getting my toys . setting them all up and going back for more.
It was the best day ever. I never knew that outside could be so much fun! There was the warm sun and the cool breeze; the noises of birds and animals, insects and all was quite pleasant.
It was not so terrible after all, being outside.
So I drank my juice and watched the clouds and played on the human seesaw……..we had so much fun that I took a nap right there in the sun. Mom watched over me as I finally slept and the afternoon came to a close. She gently woke me from my nap, and we folded up the blanket with all the toys inside and brought them back into the house. Ironically, I hadn’t needed so many toys to have fun outside, but they were with me all day just in case.
My day ended snuggled up on the couch with mom reading me a book. The book made me sleepy and that was just fine as it has been a very long day out in the sun.
The end
