Entry 29
Orson, Kant , Einstein. The perennial minds of our history all flowin g through a single medium. The iris a passage unto which knowledge can be gained.
Tommy is sitting in his room. The 4th book of the week sitting in his lap. He reads every day, and every night. Before and after school. Some call him a savant. To Tommy though, he's just doing what he loves. Standing on the shoulders that came before. His thirst for knowledge unquenchable at this point.
Tommy's parents are lucky and cursed at the same time. Tommy will have a bright future, even if he finds drugs he'll be a top student, a top businessman, a top entrepreneur. The world is but his oyster. However, Tommy will never be satisfied. He will want more, and more and never stop till he finds the ultimate truth, till he makes the biggest mark he can on the world. But Tommy doesn't realise that, his brilliance is but a speck in history. And all he will conrtibute will eventually be lost, be overridden by someone just as - if not more - brilliant.
Tommy won't give up though. It's not in a brilliant mind's nature to give up. He is the one in a million that push the human race forward. Who find new frontiers in which we must test ourselves. But what can we thank for this? Who do we thank for this grace upon which we have received?
The brain. We can thank the thing in which we all share. The globula mass that sits within our skulls. That spongey substance that soaks up words, numbers, meaning... life. The big sponge.
We all have one. It's just that Tommy's seems to soak up more. The high quality sponge your mum buys from Bed, Bath and Beyond.
#Freewrite
Every now and again I write for 5 minutes continuously and do not stop until the timer runs out. What you read is a stream of words coming out all at once. No editing, no worrying. I find this creates amazing stories as you just have to let the words take you, rather than force them out. Enjoy.
