Get a cat they said. Cat matches you they said. It's not as active as dogs and you don't need to walk it, they said.
Mark sighed as the orange tabby jumped onto his lap, purring and nuzzling its head on his stomach. He had followed what his friends said and went to the shelter, falling in love immediately with the tabby, which he now named orange. Yes, he is that creative. He loves it, really. It is just that Orange is a hyper active cat, always wanting his attention and wouldn't think twice of scratching his poor legs if he doesn't give it. He just wanted a quiet companion to cuddle at times.
"No Orange, that is not your food." He picked the tabby up and away from the nearly torn up bag of potato chips and brings it to its bed. Scratching behind the cat's ears, he couldn't help but smile as it purrs. Mark looked to the side and smiles at the sight of the sun setting through his windows. Turning to look back at the cat again, he chuckles. It's not like he would admit this to his friends or anything, but Orange has become a part of his life despite the antics he did.
Maybe it is those infuriating antics, which were sometimes annoying, yet Mark found himself humming more, laughing more. No one told you this, but sometimes he sleeps with orange cuddled beside him. Orange to him, has become like the pinkish orange sunlight that lit up the evening sky and his room. Bright and warm.
The prompt is "Deodorize", and I thought of 'purifying'? It's kind of like.... washing out the bad in our lives. I didn't put the word in the writing but I hope the meaning comes through.
