My mom loved gardening. Growing up in a homeschooled family, we had some free time in our morning to spend outdoors, planting. I wanted to work on my herb garden, but I was always deathly allergic to the outdoors. I'd not make it more than 10 minutes before my eyes would start itching, and watering. I couldn't grow and take care of the plants, because I couldn't go outside, and before long my garden would die. My parents never allowed us to take allergy medicine, so I was doomed to suffer. My siblings weren't as bad off as me, and enjoyed spending time in the sun. I would instantly equate outdoors with not being able to see, so I wasn't frequently outside. Gardening was just one of the many things I couldn't enjoy as a kid, but now that I am out of my parents' house, I can form my own ideas and opinions. Like maybe allergy pills aren't bad for you. I should give gardening another chance.
