She stands by the entryway, midnight stars, midnight skies, watching and waiting. A cool wind blows through her long auburn hair, a streak of wetness on her cheek, she cries but is unaware of her own sorrow.
Her hand rests on the dilapidated wood, a splinter in her finger, no matter. She ignores the sharp pain. Lost in her thoughts, in her dreams, in her hopes and desires, she keeps her gaze fixed to the deep purple skies, to the spiralling stars, and she stands, waiting as a statue as the years pass by in a flurry of time, an untimely curse.
Her hair stiffens with age, her body as stone, she transforms beneath the moonlight, the everlasting midnight moon that dances upon the precipice of eternity. She is one with the night, with the earth, glued to the harsh ground forever in place by the elements, her hand on the wood as one with the structure as she ceases to breathe, to exist.
She is gone, but she is an everlasting companion with the world, and forever she stares into the infinite expanse, forever alone, embraced by age, by earth, by the stars.
