Bangladesh’s position in the world of freelancing has strengthened at an unprecedented pace in the last decade. Due to technological advancements, the spread of the internet, and the interest of the younger generation in skill development, Bangladesh has now emerged as a leading country in the field of freelancing. According to the 2025 “Payoneer Global Gig Economy Index”, Bangladesh is ranked second in the world in terms of freelance income, with the United States at the top and India at the third place. The report mentioned that Bangladesh’s freelance income has grown by about 7% compared to 2024. Currently, there are about 8 lakh active freelancers in the country, working in various services such as web development, graphic design, digital marketing, content writing, data entry, and virtual assistance. The average annual income of these freelancers is about 1 billion US dollars, which is a significant contribution to the country’s foreign exchange earnings.
