Black Fly Season

If you live in the city or even a large town it’s not normal to see someone wearing a mosquito net like Hubby is in the above photo.

Black flies and mosquitoes are part of country living in the Maritimes. The 1st of June the black flies are out in full force for about two weeks. Of course you can use repellent like Off or Deet to keep them away but Hubby prefers to wear the net if he’s working outside this time of year.

There’s no concrete evidence that insect spray (or fly dope as it is sometimes called) is bad for you or causes any skin reactions but Hubby doesn’t like to use it.

There’s been so much talk about the affect on humans and animals from all the sprays used to control pests on crops. Our bees and butterflies are becoming endangered because of the use of insecticides and pesticides.

We are slowing poisoning our planet and that’s not normal.
