Day 452: 5 Minute Freewrite Challenge initiated by . Tuesday-Prompt: orbit
Unknown Critter
I found these tracks in the snow today and I wondered what critter was in my yard last night. I narrowed it down to the ones I have seen in the past; squirrels, rabbits, opossums, skunks and groundhogs. But none of those critters have a long gait as these tracks show, and groundhogs are hibernating.
After looking at different tracks on the internet for hours trying to find a match, my mind and eyes began to play tricks on me. The snow began to look like the surface of the moon and it felt as if I was on the moon, and I had found traces of a critter that was never seen by mankind. How exciting it was for me to find a new species. No way. Maybe the moon that I was on made an orbit around the earth too fast or too many times which screwed up my sight and mind.
Or maybe, just maybe I was back on earth and came to the realization that each track could possibly be four feet together, of a rabbit which does have the capability of hopping long distances. I still don't know what critter made these tracks but I do know that it feels good to be back on earth.
