Limestone nautilus cephalopod
ammonite fossil.
Looking inside, doubles as a sundial.

View of the outside parts of this
ancient critter, 65 million years
old, give or take a few days.
Top two photos from last summer.
Below frosty photos from today.

This fossil ammonite was found
by me in Germany years ago in and
around some of the many quarries.

The indented dark areas are the
chambers of this limestone shell.

This ripple view might make
for a cool clock face.

The knob in the middle sticks
up like a pointer. This closeup
shows more of the crystals.
I got so excited when I found
this puppy!

Come sail away into
the crystal caves.
