Best idea to date on the homestead! For the last 3 years we have been working hard to get our garden and animal needs fully met. This has been my passion and the passion for the entire family for the last 3 years for 6 days a week. I feel extremely blessed to have the opportunity to do this work day in and day out!
Today, I want to talk about a new passion I have... Our family and friends enjoy playing volleyball, tennis, and sometimes bad mitten. So thought why not make a few changes on the homestead. Two weeks ago I started running power so I could set up a light pole. It gets hot in Arkansas in the summer so why not extend the hours by adding a light?
Next I looked at how we could transform the tennis court to meet all game requests. I spoke with a friend and he came up with an idea to extend the tennis poles for volleyball and bad mitten. Awesome!
Leaving a space still allows a person you use the original poles for tennis. The extension allows a person to set up a net for volleyball and bad mitten. A little green paint and they look like a million bucks!
Spalding sells an aluminum pole set up for just over $2,200. One thing I've learned on the farm if you can make it yourself or local you can usually save a few bucks.
Now I looked at the court, it needed some cleaning and resurfacing. This can be an expensive but thankfully the Lord provided some additional people to come up with a cost effective solution. But is starts with a clean surface. More to come in this area at a later date.
I spent just over 20 hours power washing the entire concrete surface.
Hopefully we can finish the court in 1-2 weeks, weather dependent! I will take another picture when everything is complete.
So what fun projects are you planning for your family this year? I am asking because I can tell you 3 years of working with minimal fun can make anyone a little crazy!! Last night we had 5 families over and we played volleyball until 1130pm. I may be a little sore this morning but I want to have fun times with my family also!
