Reunion After 13 Years: A Journey Back to Friendship
Some friendships never fade no matter how far apart life takes you. Last month, I experienced something truly special: I met my childhood friend Krishna Goley Tamang after nearly 13 years.
Krishna and I grew up together in the same school, studied side by side from Grade 4 to Grade 12, and even lived in the same hostel. We weren’t just classmates we were brothers in every way, sharing dreams, struggles, and the carefree joy of youth.
After finishing high school, life took us in different directions. Krishna moved to France, while I headed to Australia. We each walked our own path, faced our own ups and downs, and slowly got caught up in the flow of life. We kept in touch occasionally through phone calls, but somehow, we never got the chance to meet in person until now.
The Reunion in Lele, Lalitpur Last month, that long-awaited moment finally arrived. Krishna had returned to Nepal and started his own resort in Lele, Lalitpur, a quiet, beautiful place just about 10 km from Kathmandu. I decided to visit him, and what followed was nothing short of magical.
I stayed at his resort for a day, and in that short time, it felt like no years had passed at all. We laughed, reminisced about our hostel days, talked late into the night about life, school, our crazy adventures, and the people we used to know. It felt like we were kids again innocent, free, and happy in the present moment.
Life Changes, But Real Friendship Doesn’t Seeing Krishna thriving in his hometown, running his own business, was inspiring. I have my own journey and passions too, and while our paths are different, the bond remains unchanged. Some friendships don’t need constant communication just a shared history and genuine love.
This visit reminded me how important it is to reconnect with people who shaped your life. No matter how far we go, it’s always comforting to find someone who remembers your story from the start.

Before we parted ways again, we made a promise that no matter how busy life gets, we'll always find time to meet once in a while. Because true friendship deserves time, and real friends are worth pausing life for.
Here’s to old friends, new memories, and the beautiful surprise of time bringing us back together.
