Hellow Foodies and Steemit Fellows😉
looks like jackfruit, but it is not😀
I Love Monday, especially monday on steemit 😊 it's been a while since I joined the #fruitsandveggiesmonday by
now. In 2019, Katie
has been a nice host for this competition😊 and if you want to know more about it, just check on this post😉
I haven't had a chance to do anything on my kitchen last week because Hubby asked me to go out with him for some business😯 though I think it was more because He wanted me not too busy with the game on steemit😊 if you know what I mean.
I have been posting about all the fruits we ate when we're out before😊 but it was in my mother language😁😁 not many people understand it. So here is the complete story in english😊.
If you never eaten Durian, but you like jackfruit😊 it will be hard for you to imagine about this fruit. It is a cousin of jackfruit😊 and seasonal tropical fruit too.
artocarpus integer, originally from Malaysia but now already planted in queensland too😊
I must reminding 😉 this is not Marang or Artocarpus odoratissimus that grown in your country😊 different one. Your Marang has strongest odor than this but the same delicious taste😊 and
😉 if you can't find durian around, Marang would do the same for your cupcake😉.. turn it into fla first.
Cempedak or chempeda is like jackfruit but the taste more like durian. It has thorny skin but when it well-ripen the thorns look like a spot and won't hurt.
here is the way to open the fruit😊, I just found it out through a TV show😂😂😂
How is the texture of this fruit? Not like jackfruit which a bit crunchy and fiberous, this cempedak will melted in your mouth like durian, creamy and soooo sweet😊. The colour is a bit pale than jackfruit, and the shape is more opal.
can't you see the soften flesh?
We have another kind of this fruit which an endemic plant in Kalimantan or Borneo Island. It has orange colour though the taste is the same, but the skin colour is reddish or purplish (too bad I haven't seen or tried that one) it is known as Keledang or Binturung, Artocarpus lanceifolius. People in Kalimantan made a special dish named Mandai after fermented the whole fruit before fry it.
the seeds😊 we can boiled this and eat it like eating jackfruit's seed and I watched in TV sometimes ago, people could turn it into flour and made special cake with it too😊
Cempedak is a collaborative of Jackfruit and Durian under the same skin😊 Jackfruit has sweet odor but Cempedak stronger but less strong than durian.
this is durian😊, in case you don't know it yet
Cempedak also full of nutrition especially beta-caroten which good as Vitamin A resource. But the sweet taste could be a dangerous for your blood sugar too. So, better not eating it everyday 😂😂😂 if you have the tree😅😆.
How to eat this fruit? People usually eat it fresh and raw. But some people also make delicious dishes from it shoots or unripen one, just like Jackfruit. We can fry the well-ripen flesh too, battered or not, make it as chips or puding😊 but I have no chances to proceed the fruit so far, because My Two Guys like it fresh and raw😂😂.
That's all for today😉 another tropical and seasonal fruit from South East Asia 😊. All pictures taken with Samsung N900 last week. So, How is your monday?
