Cauliflower was on offer in the supermarket the other day, So I got a medium sized and decided to make a Cauliflower Manchurian. This popular dish is an
Indo - chinese recipe and is made from fried cauliflower and tossed in sweet, sour and hot manchurian sauce. There are two types of this recipe, one is Cauliflower manchurian Dry and Cauliflower with gravy. I made the semi - dry version and deleted the chilis and it still taste soo good too.
Ingredients
- Cauliflower florets
- Capsicums (chopped)
- Ginger (Grated/paste)
- Garlic (Grated/paste)
For the Batter
- Corn flour (2 tbsp)
- PlainFlour (½ cup)
- Ginger paste (1tsp)
- Garlic paste (1 tsp)
- Soy sauce (1 tsp)
- Water
For the sauce
- Tomato sauce or ketchup (1 tbsp)
- Vinegar (1 tbsp)
- Soy Sauce (1tbsp)
- Dash of Salt and Pepper
- Corn flour water ( combine 1 tsp of cornflour and ½ cup water)
Preparations
- Boil or blanch cauliflower florets for 3 - 4 minutes
- Make the batter by combining plain flour, corn flour ginger, garlic paste and soy sauce.
- Add water as required, Mix well until it has smooth or flowing consistency.
- Add the cauliflower florets to the batter, making sure they are all well coated
- Fry the florets in a medium heat pan with oil.
- In the same frying pan, Add a bit of oil and saute ginger and garlic for few minutes
- Add the chopped capsicums and cook until soft but tender.
- Add the tomato sauce, vinegar, soy sauce and Mix gently.
- Add the fried cauliflower florets and stir-fry in a low heat for few minutes
- Add the cornflour water and Mix well until all is well coated. Simmer for few minutes.
- Serve and Enjoy!
This very Tasty dish may take time to prepare and cooked but is always worth it. Perfect as an appetizer meal or as a main course meal served with rice or noodles. Yum!
